‘Sprouting Out’, run in partnership with Groundwork, starts on Thursday 14th April, 11am-12.30pm and runs for 27 weeks.
The course takes a holistic view and will help service users develop a healthy lifestyle through encouraging self-care, teaching skills such as growing food cost effectively in a small space, budgeting, eating healthily, working together, building confidence and providing a helpful structure in preparation for employment.
‘Sprouting Out’ will include:
- 18 sessions on growing food
- 9 sessions on life-skills (mainly cooking – this will happen in the Community Home)
Each participant will have their own session pack which will include recipes and a growing guide. This will serve as a record of progress. There will be the opportunity to obtain AQA certificates such as food hygiene which could be helpful in obtaining employment.
‘Sprouting Out’ is completely free but spaces are limited. Please let Ian Bond know as soon as possible the names of any service users who would like to enrol. Although commitment to the whole course is preferred, it is possible to join the course for part of its duration.
